Week of March 9th
We have a handful of fairly incongruous freebies (and fairly-freebies) for you this week:
In the mood for a festival?
- Wings Over Water NW Birding Festival in Blaine, March 13-15 (raptor presentations, guided birding trips, and more)
- Irish Festival in Seattle, March 14-15 (getting close to St. Patrick’s Day, you know)
- The Seattle monorail will be free from 1:30-2:30 for travel from Westlake Park to the Seattle Center.
- The parade is scheduled for Saturday, March 14 at 12:30pm.
How about a parade?
Looking for clothes? Furniture? Funky nicknacks? Western WA Goodwill stores are offering 25% off your purchase of $20 or more, Friday March 13 9am-9pm. Download coupon here: https://www.facebook.com/goodwillwa/app_191906925750
Like to be outdoors and don’t mind getting a little wet? (aka exercise without the gym membership fee) Help restore salmon habitat as part of a work party put together by Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA) in Whatcom county, March 14 9am-noon. This is part of a series of Saturday work parties that NSEA has scheduled through May. This coming Saturday, they’ll be at Smith Creek. WSC AmeriCorps member Kelley James, serving at NSEA, will be leading the work parties (go Kelley!).
And if you’ll be in the Olympia area anytime between 10am-2pm on Thursday, March 12, consider swinging by the Legislative Building on Capitol Campus and help us educate the in-session legislators about the benefits of the AmeriCorps program – and why you’re so passionate about it! (how’s that one-minute elevator speech you’ve been working on?) In the process, you can meet our Program Coordinators in person, as we’ll have a table on the 3rd floor of the Leg Building – would love to see you there (in gear, of course)!
Have an idea to add here? Let us know!
