MLK Day Resources

mlk-logo-cncsMLK Day will be on January 16, 2017, a day in which many Americans – including thousands of national service members – celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. by carrying on his legacy of promoting kindness and service to others.

Members, now is the time to get started planning an event, if you haven’t already! For project ideas and tips on reaching out to the public and media, visit www.nationalservice.gov/mlkday.

TIP!  Invite your city’s mayor, local legislators and supporters of national service to your event! If they confirm they’ll be attending, notify your local newspapers and major news outlets. Use the opportunity to highlight your service in AmeriCorps, and the impact you’re making through Washington Service Corps and the organization you’re serving at.

If you’d like our help in reaching out to the media, please send the project-event information for media form to your WSC program coordinator at least two weeks in advance of the event.

You can post your event on our Facebook page, or send your information to Jess Marino to request our help in posting for you.

When posting on your own social media pages, don’t forget to tag #MLKday, #AmeriCorps, @WAServiceCorps and @WSCbuzz so we can help you spread the word!
