We offer two different programs: the Washington Service Corps and the Washington Reading Corps. Click on the links below to learn more.
Washington Service Corps projects focus on environmental stewardship, literacy and math tutoring to struggling students, disaster preparedness training, nutrition and healthy lifestyle education, providing services to veterans in need, helping senior citizens and disabled adults live more independently – and much more!
Washington Reading Corps projects consist of one-on-one and small-group tutoring of children in preschool through fourth grade to improve students’ literacy skills.
- Projects engage AmeriCorps members in providing services (“interventions”) that address local community problems.
- Interventions must be based on evidence-based or evidence-informed approaches.
- Projects align with our program performance measures, or WSC-approved applicant-determined measures.
- Every project includes a component of volunteer generation to help build and sustain organizational capacity.
